From Chaos to Clarity
One acorn (task) at a time.
-
Highly creative and neurodivergent individuals often struggle with task initiation, time estimation, and prioritization when using standard productivity tools. Existing apps frequently increase overwhelm by requiring excessive customization, manual organization, and mental effort, ultimately making task management tools feel more burdensome than beneficial.
-
After researching science-backed productivity methods and conducting multiple UX interviews, I designed SQRL: a neuroinclusive app that turns chaotic ‘brain dumps’ into clear, actionable tasks. Inspired by tools like Duolingo and Goblin Tools, SQRL uses dark mode, simplified task flows, and a friendly character named Scout to reduce overwhelm, support executive function, and bring ease to daily task management.
-
Grounded in UX research and personal neurodivergent insight, I mapped behavior patterns, prototyped intuitive flows, and developed Scout, the app’s animated guide, to reduce overwhelm and increase task clarity.

AI Animation, “Scout” Character variations
Scout began as a hand-drawn character I developed in Adobe Illustrator. To bring him to life, I experimented with both Sora and Midjourney: first manipulating him into various poses manually, then using those frames as visual anchors. In Sora, I generated short animations that transitioned smoothly between keyframes, exploring how motion might reinforce personality and user connection.
